Good or Bad?

Here's how last Monday went. Good day or bad day? You decide.

Thumbs Up: I woke in Susan's gorgeous guest room, wandered upstairs and we quickly decided I just possibly might make the 9 AM ferry.
Thumbs Up:  I was nearly the last car on the boat! Wow, no one parked behind me!!  (This is a near miracle, as I have had many negative ferry experiences, where I was the third car that did NOT make the boat, or I had to wait cuz my boat was on fire, or.....)
Thumbs Up:  decided I better cash in on my good fortune and buy a lotto ticket. Quick pick, as I was trusting in whatever came down the pipe  :)
Thumbs Up:  my tall friend, Greg, had some free time so we went for a coffee and a fun chat. Excellent!
Thumbs Up:  dropped by my doctor's office, and got him to write me papers for lab tests without having to see him! He's kind of a jerk, so this was awesome!
Thumbs Down:  a dog nearly bit me. Twice. Yikes!!
Thumbs Down:  left a bit later than planned.
But thumbs up:   most of the traffic was gone
Thumbs Down:  heavily, heavily snowing on the Coquihalla. Got stopped 200 feet from the snow shed. Stayed there for over a hour and half!!!!
Thumbs WAY Down:  a redneck got bored, and mooned his friends. Now I have fat ass burned into my retina.
Thumbs Up:  I had cell coverage, so could share this with friends. (It's always better if you can share the pain, right?)
Thumbs Down:  once traffic got moving, I saw an RCMP cruiser on a tow truck. Hmmmm, not sure, but am guessing city boy got stuck?? Thought about writing a citizen's moving violation ticket for $300, but thought he might be short on ha-ha at that point.
Thumbs Up:  the rest of the drive was slow but fine.
Thumbs Down:   the drive took 50% longer than it usually would!!

Hmmm, so whaddaya think? When I check my lotto ticket, I'll let you know the final story.

Love These Gorrilla Sticks!

4out of 5

Gift: No

Pros: Crud busters, Good Carving Ability, Smooth Ride, Good Grip

Cons: Heavy

Best Uses: Moguls, Icy Conditions

Describe Yourself: Advanced

I am a pretty aggressive gal on the snow. I am 5'6", 150 lbs, and very muscular and strong.
I demo'ed these skis at Snowbird, UT, in Feb '10, after working my way through the ladies boards. The ski tech's comment was, "I think you'll really love these...if you can handle them."
omg, these skis were amazing!!!
I dubbed them 'The Gorrilla Sticks' as they truly did not care if I rode icy moguls, carved icy groomers, tight trees, blasted heavy crud or even 6" of lovely soft powder.
downsides: these skis are sooooo heavy, I could barely pick them up with 1 hand. I hiked with them, and it was gruelling. And in knee-deep powder, I wished for more floatation
Overall: if they were a bit less heavy, I would never want any other ski....ever.

The Morning After

It has been the most amazing, incredible, extraordinary experience being in Vancouver for the Games. I could never have imagined anything like it. The whole feeling in the city has been joy and pride and FUN. The place was painted red, with shirts and face paint and temporary tattoos. There were so few problems with violence or disrespect or vandalism, or even litter. Of course there were zillions of police...but I only saw them asking folks to dump beers, or climb down off road signs and bus shelters... lol, good ideas, really.

Last night, people wandered the streets downtown, high-fiving people. I kid you not, we spent HOURS high-fiving everyone, and seeing if we could find anyone who wouldn't give a high-five. Wasn't possible. Everyone, of every colour and religion and age, even the police, were happy to give a high five. Now THAT says something about this show we put on.

I did not know we had it in us. I really, really didn't.
Go, Canada, Go.
